From Party Playlister to Music Professional
CHECK OUT DICE HARPER'S STORY
Growing up I loved listening to the radio, playing guitar and singing in the local church band, and rapping at youth camps. I still never planned to enter the music industry though. What changed was after my Spotify party playlist “Project X” grew from word of mouth on my college campus, and ended up going viral. My name is Chase Dice Harper, and back in 2015/16, playlisting was just starting to change how artists marketed their music. By 2017, I became a key player in the streaming playlist rise in the eyes of major labels and artists. Seizing the opportunity, I founded my own music business brand, Xperience Music, and made sure the playlist was easily searchable by naming it “viral party playlist”. I continued focusing on my brand identity, education and certification, the growing streaming space, and my industry relationships to establish myself as a valuable asset to any release team. Through unwavering dedication to the music community and seeking industry mentorship from executives, I’ve had the privilege to collaborate on streaming campaigns for established artists and their teams such as Wiz Khalifa, 6lack, Tech N9ne, Chief Keef, K Camp, CyHi, N.O.R.E., Coi Leray, Big K.R.I.T., Dizzy Wright, H.E.R., Ace Hood, Rich Homie Quan, Noah Cyrus, Niiko x Swae, Ghostface Killah, and many more. Quickly becoming one of the primary points of contact for all things playlisting and streaming, I worked as a third-party consultant for the major labels and distributors. At the start of my career, the marketing I focused primarily on was track marketing and playlist pitching/acquisition, which led me to provide those clients with creative promotions in addition to steaming support. Over the next few years, I continued to exchange social media posts for promotion services to build my portfolio of clients further. Then in 2019, I planned to launch a music competition festival with the support of investors, independent labels, and major artist’s DJs, and producers. However, with the uncertainty brought on by the 2020 global pandemic, the plan became impossible to execute without live shows or events so after returning home to Fort Worth, Texas, and developing my skills along with the the music scene in my hometown for a year, I continued to work independently and remotely with clients across Los Angeles as well as New York, and Atlanta. Since 2022, I’ve worked on artist’s music careers as an independent music business consultant both behind the scenes and across the globe. Recently I launched two new media projects called Dice Slice and Dice Game. Dice Slice is a music, tech, and pop culture news update for everyone to stay up to date on the latest trending music-adjacent news. Dice Game is to help music creators get further in their music careers with helpful information, music education, and industry tips.
